Casualty & Character Course
Two weeks of blood work, wounds, ageing, skin effects, disease, burns and more
Where makeup careers begin.
The Delamar Academy Casualty & Character course provides an excellent foundation in injuries, skin conditions, ageing and other special effects makeup, essential for the film & TV industry.
Learn it all.
In this course, we have some of the industry’s leading artists, such as BAFTA winning Catherine Scoble, teaching her speciality - SFX. Students learn about bruising, dirt, sweat and tears, swelling, various injuries, the continuity of wounds, ageing, burns and much more. The concept of “breaking down” a character is explored in depth, to add the look of fatigue or dehydration - which is very important for Film & TV work.
This course uses materials and products that are new to most students. Reference images are closely studied to learn about the colours of a bruise or wound, and how to translate that onto a realistic on-screen injury.
